Amazon is launching satellites.
I love the name of their program, “Project Kuiper”, i.e. (I assume) the Kuiper Belt, the band of “trans-Neptunian objects” of which Pluto is a part. It’s the outermost neighborhood of the solar system, which is exactly the type of neighborhoods that will be serviced by this type of technology.
The quote is just one that I like, a separate and unrelated thought. It’s not related to Amazon or Project Kuiper…or maybe it is? These satellites (along with fiber lines being currently ran) are to address the antiquated POTS and cable lines that were the original medium of the internet. They weren’t well suited for that purpose (phones lines in particular) but then nobody planned for them to be used for data of that type. Nobody planned a lot of the infrastructure or…well, anything else. It’s all adapted, built upon, repurposed…just like your life, man.
